Aftermath 2
The view before me was...horrific, to say the least. I stood there, shocked at the view sprawled before me. The city, the environment, everything was...barren. The sky was painted crimson red. All that is left of the buildings are empty, hollow, dilapidated places that used to house people. I walked a few steps forward, out of the crack, out of the hole. I looked around. Nothing. No signs of life, nothing. Nothing was moving. A far cry from the normal sound of the car horns and the birds. And I used to swear at the dumb drivers that horned as they liked. Now I would do anything to hear them again.
"This is a dream, right? It gotta be! This can't be happening! Come on, wake up!"
I was comforting myself, telling myself that things were all a lie. That things were fake. That this wasn't really happening. Maybe it was some kind of sick joke. Or some kinda nightmare that I was about to wake up from. Whatever it was, it had better not be real. If it is, I'm really screwed.
Suddenly, I heard a voice.
"No, no no no....Believe me, this is definitely real. Can you not feel it? The realism of the situation?"
I looked around for anyone that might have been speaking to me. I couldn't be losing it, could I? Then, at the horizon, I saw...him. Yes, him...That man. He was standing in front of the sun. Or, what was supposed to be the sun. Whatever it was, it was bright. The brightness got to me. I blinked. When I opened back my eyes, he was right in front of me. He was tall, around the same height as me. And I'm telling you, I ain't short. He wore a black trench coat, with tight black pants. As if he was some sort of secret agent or something that you see on television. He looked at me. He was staring me, as if he was studying me. He looked human. He was white, with blond hair. Might even be considered a pretty boy. But he was wearing shades. I couldn't get a good look at his eyes. Maybe his eyes wasn't human. I wouldn't know. Whatever it was, something about him felt...off. After a few seconds, I got pissed at his staring and decided to get some answers.
"Hey! You!"
"Me?"
He looked shocked. As if I wasn't supposed to be talking to him.
"Yeah, you. Who else is standing in front of me?"
"Yes? Is there anything that I can help you with?"
"Don't mess with me, pretty boy. What is this? What happened? Who are you? Is this even real?"
"Now, now, one question at a time, please."
"Screw this! Tell me! Is this even real?!"
The moment those words left my mouth, I felt a strong impact at my stomach. My breath escaped from me. It felt like someone just used a steel ball and hit me with it. I knelt, reeling from the pain. I was gasping for air. I never felt anything like that before. No human could ever hit THIS hard. He continued speaking.
"Can you feel that? You feel pain, don't you? Doesn't that mean that this is real? Isn't it standard practice to pinch oneself to see if they are dreaming? Then that punch should've woke you up. Hard. Or would you like another one?"
A punch?! That force came from a punch?! You gotta be kidding me. Slowly, i regained my breath and stood up. That 'punch' still hurt. Bad. But I had to get answers.
"Huff...huff...Fine. This is real. But...who the hell are you?!"
"That question is of no concern of yours. But then again...it might be..."
"What? What are you talking about? F-"
Before I could even finish my sentence, I felt myself being lifted from the ground. I was losing breath. Someone was choking me. Then i realized it. He lifted me. I could see his hand on my neck. With one hand, he lifted me and was choking me.
"Please, mind your language. I DO NOT LIKE FOUL LANGUAGE"
I was losing breath fast. At this rate, I was gonna be done for. I struggled. I tried to kick him. I did. But it was as if he was made of steel. He had no reaction. Instead, my foot hurt. I tried to force his hand to let go of me. But even with both of my hands, I couldn't even make his hand budge. I tried taking hold of his hand, his arm, everything. Nothing worked.
"Aargh...*cough* *cough* let...me...GO!"
Suddenly, I saw smoke coming out. It came from where my hand was! No, wait, I didn't feel anything. It came from his hand! I was still holding his hand to make him let go. His faced grew more grim and he threw me to the ground.
"Damn! What was that?!"
He was looking at his hand. I could see as well. His hands...there was smoke coming out of it. It was as if...he touched something really hot. But, as fast as the smoke came, out, it stopped. I breathed hard. I stood up. Then he started talking again.
"Hmm...interesting. Who knew that humans would be so fascinating! This means that it was successful! But it would appear to choose worthy people..."
"What? Hey! What are you talking about?!"
"Ah, I'm sorry. I forgot you were even there. My mind was wandering somewhere else."
"Wha-?! Why you darned pretty boy...!"
"Calm down now. For your own good. Or would you like to go through that again?"
"Grrr..."
"No matter. I will leave you now. But I will be watching you."
He was still looking at his hand. Then, before I could react, he disappeared, quick as a flash. Then I heard his voice again.
"Seek out others like you! Survive! Then only can I see the fruits of my labour! Until next time~"
I stood there. I was dumbfounded. What? What the heck just happened? Others like me? There was others? I looked at my own hand. Did I do something? What caused that smoke to come out? I sighed...Looks like this is gonna be a long, long day...
